Building homes & community
we’re all about family & community – care to join us?
Pat and Vanessa Coughlan, the founders and owners of Coughlan Construction, live ‘family’ in everything they do.
And for them, family starts at home. Pat is Canterbury born and bred, and Vanessa has been in the region since the age of 5. These days they are busy raising 3 young children – Charlotte, Madeleine and William – in Christchurch.
Pat is also very involved with his extended family, offering help with everything from health issues to the more mundane, everyday things that crop up in a big family.
If you ask Pat, he’ll tell you straight out – family is number one. And he puts his money where his mouth is.
But it doesn’t stop there.
Building is the family business
Pat had his first part-time job in the building industry working for family at the tender age of 13. Once he’d finished school, he then spent several years training and working in New Zealand and London. These are the years where he honed his skills in residential building, and also gained experience in commercial and heritage projects.
Then it was back to Christchurch, where Pat and Vanessa founded Coughlan Construction in 2004. And you know what? They’ve re-created family at Coughlan too. Coughlan now has a group of long-term, mostly local, builders and sub-contractors that are – you guessed it – pretty much like family.
What that means for you is that Pat has a loyal and trustworthy team at his disposal, ensuring your build gets done right and on time. And who will treat you like you’re part of the family too.
Community means lending a helping hand
But not everything is about work for the Coughlans.
Pat was a top-notch rugby player back in the day, playing at senior level on championship premier grade teams, including our own Burnside team. And Coughlan is now a sponsor of the Burnside club – it’s that loyalty thing again.
Pat and Vanessa are also doing their part to help bolster the Canterbury community through some pretty rough times. They sponsor a ‘Special Children’s Christmas Party’ every year, and they’ve also developed an easy way for you to give back to the community too.
Here’s their offer. When you build a new house with Coughlan, they’ll donate $500 on your behalf to the local charity of your choice.
They’ll provide you with a list of organisations to choose from, so all you have to do is let them know where you’d like your donation to go. It’s simple to do, and it will mean so much to the recipients.
By now you’ll have a pretty good idea of how the Coughlan team does things, and they’d love you to be part of the crew too. Email them today at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how they can help you find your total living solution.
